BRITISH AIRCRAFT IN ROYAL AIR FORCE SERVICE, 1939-1945: VICKERS WELLINGTON. (ME(RAF) 3699) Wellington Mark IC, Z9099 ?C?, of No. 38 Squadron RAF, in flight over the Western Desert, probably while based at Shallufa, Egypt.  Z9099 was one of several Wellingtons specially converted for use as torpedo bomber/minelayers by the Squadron.  It was shot down by enemy fighters near Fort Maddalena, Libya, on 9 March 1942. © IWM (ME(RAF) 3699)
